CHILD, Inc. Programs

Head Start is a part day program for pre-school children that operates from September through May. Children may attend mornings from 8:00 to 11:30 AM or afternoons from 12 noon to 3:30 PM. Head Start includes eight home visits per year to each child's family. For more information on the Head Start program, please contact Timothy Long.

Enhanced Head Start can be part or full day, and operates from September through June. Enhanced Head Start includes a Special Education Teacher, employed by the Warwick School Department, who collaborates with CHILD, Inc. staff to meet the needs of children with disabilities. Early Head Start is a year round home based program for infants/toddlers and their families. It also includes first time expectant parents. CHILD, Inc. staff visit each family once per week for one and one-half hours. Home base families also attend a child development center one morning per week. Activities include a parent support group, parent-child activities, opportunity to socialize with other parents, and a family meal. Extended Day Child Care is available year round at all CHILD, Inc. facilities for children from six weeks to five years old. Centers open at 7:00 AM and close at 6:00 PM. Parents are assigned hours based upon their work schedules. It is important to note that Head Start and Early Head Start children are also included in extended day child care. Home visits are made a minimum of three times per year to Head Start families, and six times per year to Early Head Start families. Jump Start is a day treatment program for pre-school children with behavioral, emotional, and/or relational disorders. Jump Start is a collaborative project between the Warwick School Department and CHILD, Inc. that provides children both special education and mental health services in a community based child development center. The program operates year round and includes parents in both center and home based activities. For more information on the Jump Start program, please contact Rose Randall-Hicks.

Family Learning Center is an intergenerational learning program for parents and their children. Parents work towards attaining a GED certificate and/or work readiness, while supporting their children's emergent literacy through center and home activities.
